What to Change When Passing to Gtap 7

What to change when passing to GTAP 7? #

As the model is concerned, two things have changed between GTAP 6 and GTAP 7: the geographical breakdown and the base year. MIRAGE distribution is still made for GTAP 6.2. So, some adjustments must be done to use the new GTAP database. They mainly concern the dynamic mode.

Geographical breakdown #

The number of region passes from 87 in version 6 (96 in 6.2) to 106 in version 7. A few files bring data to the model using the GTAP geographical nomenclature. Thus, they are dependent of the version used. They are all called in the file Sets.gms.

  • MacMap protection file - You just have to run your SAS programs with a file CorMM.txt produced from the appropriate GTAP version.
  • Export tax for modelling protection on services
  • Rural and total population time serie - Only available for GTAP 6.2
  • Agriculture active population - Two files are available for each version of GTAP (6.2 and 7p4). You need to change the line 55 by:
$include ./ProgGMS/propagri7p4.gms
  • GDP - Only available for GTAP 6.2
  • Population - Two files are available for each version of GTAP (6.2 and 7p4). You need to change the line 9 in Projections.gms by:
$include Population7p4.gms

Base year #

The base year passes from 2001 to 2004. All the program parts that refer to a year must be cheched and often adjusted to the nex base year. It concerns mainly:
